What is 3D Secure?

Most payments on FairPay are 3D Secured

Your customers will need to confirm their payments using their phones.

For extra fraud protection and to give you the best commission possible, FairPay processes 3D Secure payments whenever possible.

3D Secure (3DS) requires customers to complete an additional verification step with the card issuer when paying. Typically, your customers will receive a code or prompt on their phone to complete their payment.

3DSecure is also known under various commercial names, such as "Verified By Visa", "MasterCard SecureCode", "American Express SafeKey" and "J/Secure".

FairPay can process non-3D Secure payments. However, due to the additional risks, our commission is 8% instead of 5%.

While 3DS payments have become extremely widespread, it is true that some cards still do not have this feature. In that case, unless our antifraud system flags the transaction, FairPay will still process the payment, and you will be charged an additional 3%.

Please note that we do not cover chargebacks on non-3DS transactions.
